FootballGravity is an independent English-language football publication based in Tokyo. We explore football through culture, sustainability, data, people and place. We value depth over speed and do not publish articles merely to increase volume or repeat another outlet’s reporting.
Accuracy and sourcing
We distinguish verified facts, attributed claims, analysis and opinion. Important claims are checked against primary sources wherever possible and, when appropriate, against independent reporting. Quotations are checked against the original text, recording or interview. Data is published with enough context to understand its source, period, definition and limitations.
Originality and attribution
Our work should add original reporting, observation, analysis or context. We do not publish copied, lightly rewritten or automatically aggregated articles. When information, quotations, data or ideas come from another source, we identify and link to the specific source whenever it is safe and possible to do so.
On-the-ground reporting
We separate what our writers directly observed from what they learned through interviews, documents or other publications. We explain how exclusive information or quotations were obtained when that context matters to the reader.
Headlines and images
Headlines must accurately represent the article. We avoid clickbait, unsupported certainty, sensational language and keyword stuffing. Images, graphics and data visualisations must have a documented source and an appropriate right or licence. AI-generated images are labelled and are not presented as documentary evidence.
Artificial intelligence
AI may assist research, organisation, translation, data processing and production. A human editor remains responsible for the question, verification, expression and decision to publish. We do not treat AI output as a source or publish unreviewed AI-generated articles. Material use is disclosed when it affects how readers should understand the work.
Independence and conflicts
Editorial decisions are not purchased. Relevant sponsorship, hospitality, personal interest or collaboration that could affect a reader’s assessment of an article is disclosed. Club, competition and company names and marks remain the property of their owners.
Corrections and contact
We correct material errors transparently and distinguish corrections, clarifications, updates and retractions. See our Corrections Policy for the process. Questions, corrections and editorial enquiries can be sent to info@footballgravity.com.
